On June 17 at 6:30 p.m., Pathways Adult Learning Center will be fulfilling a dream for many students as they host their first ever prom for more than 80 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who attend their program.

During their planned “Under the Sea” prom, the students will have the opportunity to promenade on the rolled out blue carpet, socialize with friends, sing karaoke, make crafts, eat theme-related snacks, and dance. They will also have sensory and mobility-friendly activities to accommodate all students and their needs. Pathways student Christian T. will be making his DJ debut as “DJ Zipline” with the support of his teacher. The community has been generously stepping up to provide donated decorations, activities, and even beauty salon services to help students get ready for their big night.

“We are so excited for June 17th to get here so our students can have this Under the Sea experience and a returning sense of normalcy after the past couple of challenging years. Although this year is only open to our currently enrolled students, we hope to extend the invitation to the public next year.” said Lori Williamson, Pathways Program Manager.
