In celebration of Law Day on Monday, May 1, hundreds of attorneys across Oklahoma will provide free legal advice to members of their communities.
Members of the Tulsa County Bar Association will participate in the Ask A Lawyer program in conjunction with the statewide effort to provide free legal advice. The number to call in Tulsa County is 918-340-5297, and the phone number will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“Law Day is special because it gives lawyers another chance to serve their communities,” said Oklahoma Bar Association President Brian Hermanson. “Volunteer attorneys will be dedicating their time to answering your legal questions at no cost. We encourage all Oklahomans with legal questions to call in.”
In addition to providing free legal advice on May 1, The Tulsa County Bar Association is celebrating Law Day with several other events. On April 28, they will host their Law Day Luncheon and awards at the Downtown Doubletree, featuring guest speaker Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr. Other events include a month-long food drive competition to benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, the First Responder Will Project running through May 5, during which attorneys provide free wills, Powers of Attorney and other related legal documents for first responders, the Charity Golf Tournament on May 8 and a reception for winners of the student Law Day contest on May 11.
Judge Martha Rupp Carter and Mary Clement serve as Tulsa County’s Law Day chairs. The Law Day chairs work in conjunction with the state bar’s Law Day Committee to coordinate the Ask A Lawyer event.
