In a recent poll reported by Family Research Prayer Team, 9 percent of Americans who identified as pro-choice a month ago switched to pro-life after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo led the Legislature as they passed the most liberal abortion law in America. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared his support for a bill legalizing infanticide for babies who survived a botched abortion.
Against all babies who survive abortions and the vast majority of Americans, 44 senators (all Democrats) voted in February against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Three Democrats voted for the bill and three Republicans didn’t vote. Pro-choice activists said that there was no need for this legislation as it would limit women’s healthcare choices.
The winds of change are blowing across this country. This action in Congress is truly a moment of choosing for the nation.
Maryland is the most pro-abortion state in the Union. Their House Speaker proposed to enshrine abortion in the Maryland Constitution.
The choices before Americans are not only life and death of abortion survivors but of authorized healthcare providers (non-physicians) carrying out the procedure and the agreement between the mother and abortionist as to the care or lack of care if the baby is alive after having survived the abortion.
Ultimately, the choice is the very survival of our nation.
Encouragingly, there is a piece of legislation known as the Heartbeat Bill that is gaining approval in 15 state legislatures. When a heartbeat is detected in the unborn baby, abortion is not permitted.
Then there is Senate Bill 13, authored by Sen. Joseph Silk, R-Broken Bow, that has been denied a hearing because it is “unnecessary.” (Opponents of the bill say) the Oklahoma Constitution is sufficiently pro-life. However, this bill – if it gets a vote this session – could strengthen pro-life provisions for all Oklahomans.
Opposition to the bill is denying it a committee hearing. Three high-level officials of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma are not in support of SB13. Is it separation of church and state thinking? Political correctness? The voiceless citizens yet to be born deserve our utmost protection against all odds.
God gave Moses a choice for the children of Israel: Deuteronomy 30:19 – “…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life that both you and your descendants may live.”
Call your representative and senator to demand a hearing for SB13. Then pray for the hearing to proceed on to a floor vote for life and blessing.
