After holding the lead the entire game, the Tulsa Oilers Football team gave up a touchdown with one second on the clock and lost 45-42 at Jacksonville on Saturday night.

The Oilers scored the first on a four-yard touchdown pass from Andre Sale to Joshua Crockett. Then Sale connected with Alexis Rosario on a five-yard touchdown pass to give the Oilers a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Sharks cut the Oilers lead with a four-yard touchdown run by Tyler King.

Tulsa extended its lead to 21-6 when Jarrod Ware Jr. scored on an 11-yard run.

Jacksonville answered with a seven-yard touchdown pass from Fred Payton Jr. to Jeremiah Payton.

Sale scored on a one-yard quarterback keeper to give Tulsa a 28-12 lead.

The Sharks struck again before halftime Fred Payton Jr. carried the ball eight yards into the end zone for a score.

The Oilers led 28-18 at halftime.

Tulsa opened the third quarter with another touchdown pass from Sale, this time to Jonathan Nance, and it was 35-18 Tulsa, with 10:15 left in the third quarter.

Jacksonville kept it close as Payton and Payton connected again with 5:24 left in the third quarter, cutting Tulsa’s lead to 35-24.

The Sharks scored again on a 13-yard pass play from Payton to Jaedon Stoshak. That brought Jacksonville within three of Tulsa, 35-32.

With 6:41 left to play in the fourth quarter, the Oilers increased their lead to 42-32, when Sale connected with Joshua Crockett with a three-yard touchdown pass.

The Sharks were not to be outdone and they scored back to back touchdowns. First, on a seven-yard keeper by Payton, then with the clock running out, King carried the ball two yards into the end zone to beat the Oilers.

Tulsa is now 3-8 on the season and Jacksonville is 2-8.

The Oilers will be home at the BOK Center this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CDT against the Sioux Falls Storm. The first 1000 fans 13 years and older will receive an Oilers Adult Jersey. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
