The following elections/propositions will be voted on August 27 in the Tulsa municipal elections and runoffs from the June primary elections. Not every race will have an endorsement. If this is the case there will be a discussion of the candidates to help you in your decisions.
TULSA MAYOR
- The Tulsa Beacon endorses Brent Van Norman for mayor. The other Republican with serious polling numbers Casey Bradford is a moderate. Karen Keith and Monroe Nichols are both Democrats and not even moderate Democrats.
DISTRICT 1 COUNCIL
- This race has two Democrats vying for the seat. Newcomer Angela Chambers seem to be the more moderate of the two. Vanessa Hall-Harper, the incumbent, is quite liberal.
DISTRICT 2 COUNCIL
- With no incumbent running Aaron L Bisogno is the most conservative candidate, but unlikely to win. Anthony Archie is a moderate Republican and has a better organized campaign.
DISTRICT 3 COUNCIL
- Susan Frederick, a Republican, is recommended over Democrat Jackie Dutton.
DISTRICT 4 COUNCIL
- Aaron Griffith is more conservative than Laura Bellis who is very liberal.
DISTRICT 5 COUNCIL
- Although Karen Gilbert is not a true conservative, she is a moderate Republican, she would be better than Alicia Andrews the Oklahoma Democrat Party Chairman.
DISTRICT 6 COUNCIL
- Although Christian Bengel will not be endorsed by the Tulsa Beacon, he is a better alternative than liberal Democrat Uriah Davis
DISTRICT 7 COUNCIL
- Both Republicans Eddie Huff and Margie Alfonso appear on the ballot, however Alfonso has dropped out of the race. The Tulsa Beacon endorses Eddie Huff over liberal Democrat Lori Dector Wright.
DISTRICT 8 COUNCIL
- Chris Cone is a conservative Republican Christian voice and is endorsed by the Tulsa Beacon over the moderate Phil Lakin who voted for masked mandates and business closings during the pandemic.
DISTRICT 9 COUNCIL
- Of the Republicans running: Jayme Fowler is a moderate incumbent who voted for mask mandates and business closings during the pandemic, Carol Bush is a liberal leaning former State Representative, and Julie Dunbar is a newcomer to politics, but has been attending city council meetings for the past year and is up to speed on the issues. She is the wife of former city councilor Todd Houston. She says she is committed to finding the best long term solutions to Tulsa’s problems.
TULSA PROPOSITION 1
- Vote NO. Not only does it increase the City Councilor pay by 33 percent, it puts the future pay scale to be controlled by the consumer price index.

TULSA COUNTY DISTRICT 2
- REPUBLICAN
- Melissa Meyers is recommended by the Tulsa Beacon. Lonnie Sims is a moderate Republican at best by his record in the Oklahoma House.
- DEMOCRAT
- Of the two Democrats Maria Barnes is the moderate and Sarah Gray the left liberal.
SENATE 33 REPUBLICAN RUNOFF
- Shelley Gwartney is endorsed by the Tulsa Beacon.
HOUSE 98 REPUBLICAN RUNOFF
- Gabe Wooley is endorsed by the Tulsa Beacon he is conservative. Dean Davis is the more moderate of these two Republicans.
