TULSA, OKLA. — The Tulsa housing market is experiencing a remarkable rebound in 2024, with housing starts showing a year-to-date (YTD) increase of 12% over 2023. In October alone, 344 homes were started, reflecting a dramatic 78.2% increase compared to October 2023. This growth marks a significant turnaround from the declines seen in recent years, where YTD housing starts were down 17% in 2023 and 15.8% in 2022.
Broken Arrow led the region with 130 housing starts in October and 640 YTD, followed by strong activity in Tulsa, Bixby, and Wagoner County. The data highlights a surge in residential construction, particularly in urban and suburban areas, while rural regions remain relatively stable.
Jeffrey Smith, CEO of the Tulsa Home Builders Association, attributes this growth to renewed confidence in the local housing market and increased demand for new homes.
“The growth we’re seeing this year is a testament to the resilience of Tulsa’s housing market and the commitment of our builders to meet the needs of our growing community,” said Smith. “This turnaround reflects the strength of Tulsa’s economy and the continued desirability of living and building in our region. As we move into 2025, we’re optimistic that this positive momentum will continue.”
The Tulsa Home Builders Association remains committed to supporting its members and the broader community by fostering a thriving housing market.
