When the government considers the life of an unborn child worthless, there are consequences that follow.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Democrat officials of the State of New York rejoiced earlier this year as that state passed the most liberal abortion law in the nation. Basically, the new law allows the murder of an unborn child just moments before a normal birth. There are no restrictions.
As bad as that decision is, there is more trouble to follow.
A story reported by the American Center for Law and Justice graphically displays one of the ripple effects of New York’s new “abortion on demand” law.
“A man attacked his pregnant girlfriend in New York, reportedly dragging her out into the public vestibule of their apartment building and stabbing her repeatedly in the stomach as neighbors say she pled for the life of her unborn baby,” the ACLJ reports.
Jennifer Irigoyen was a real estate agent, fitness instructor, and mother to another young child. The attack was caught on camera. Neighbors saw what was happening and rushed to help her but they were too late. The attacker had fled.
Gasping for breath, she told her neighbors who attacked her. She was five months pregnant. Both she and her baby died.
Her boyfriend, Anthony Hobson, turned himself in to authorities. He was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, illegal abortion and criminal possession of a weapon.
“This was a heinous crime,” said District Attorney Richard Brown in a statement. “A woman was brutally stabbed – killing her and the unborn child. The defendant is alleged to have shown no mercy and no regard for human life when he repeatedly and purposely plunged a knife into this expectant mother’s abdomen, torso and neck. The defendant, now in custody, faces spending the rest of his days locked behind bars.”
But a few days later, one charged was dropped. Hobson would no longer be charged with an illegal abortion because of New York’s Reproductive Health Act, signed January 22, that removed that crime from the penal code.
In America, the standard has always been that if you murder a pregnant woman and her baby dies, you are guilty of two murders – not one.
Now, that standard has vanished in the wake of New York’s drive to murder unborn babies.
Remember when Cuomo ordered New York’s Freedom Tower – a building that is a monument to the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack – to be lit in pink as part of the “celebration” of the murder of innocent unborn children?
What if Hobson’s girlfriend had survived and the baby was killed? Would he go free as the abortion charge would have been nullified?
Hobson likely will be convicted and spend the rest of his life in prison (New York doesn’t have the death penalty).
Here is the terrible conclusion. A man so vile as to stab an unborn baby has more legal rights in New York than the innocent baby. The Freedom Tower should be lit up for the murdered mother and child, not for a law that makes it open season on the unborn.
The ACLJ is demanding copies of records to show the public the involvement of Planned Parenthood and other abortionists in this terrible law. There will be a legal challenge to this New York statute.
Another consequence is that other states, including Vermont, Virginia, Illinois, New Mexico and others, are debating passage of the same law, which is more infanticide than abortion.
And here is a question for the U.S. Supreme Court and the Oklahoma Supreme Court. New York is defying the legal precedent of the court by pushing abortion to the extreme. New York officials are boldly saying they control abortion, not the courts.
So, if New York can tell the courts that babies can be killed moments before birth, why can’t Oklahoma tell the courts that we are not going to allow any abortions at all?
Americans have never voted to approve abortion. It was imposed by an activist Supreme Court in 1973. Oklahomans have never voted to legalize abortion. In fact, Oklahomans regularly elect senators and representatives who say they are opposed to abortion and want Roe v. Wade overturned.
Colorado thumbed their noses at federal law when they legalized recreational marijuana.Oklahoma did the same with medical marijuana. Why can states ignore the law and courts to make bad laws while Oklahoma is handcuffed when it comes to saving the lives of unborn babies?
Make no mistake. Actions have consequences. When devalue human life, people suffer. Now it is unborn babies. Next will be the elderly.
It’s time to tell the Republican leaders in the Oklahoma House and Senate to abolish abortion in this state and set an example for the people of New York and America.
This has to be corrected. If it isn’t, it will get worse.
