OU SWEEPS SERIES AT MISSOURI

No. 18 Oklahoma had an easy time with Missouri last week, winning three, run-rule shortened, games. The three wins bring the Sooners’ total of run-rule wins to eight this season. Missouri remains winless in the SEC this season.

On Thursday night, Trey Gambill had a career night, hitting two home runs and six runs batted in to lead the Sooners to a 17-4 victory in eight innings. Drew Dickerson added a career-best three hits and three RBI. OU’s 17 runs were a season high.

On Friday, the two teams played a double header, with the Sooners taking game one, 17-7 in eight innings, and the nightcap 12-1 in seven innings.

In the first game of the DH, OU scored four runs in the top of the third and fourth innings to take an 8-0 lead. The Sooners put the game away with eight runs in the top of the eighth inning, while the Bears managed just one run in the bottom of the eighth.

OU was led by Easton Carmichael who blasted two home runs in the game and had six RBI. Jason Walk and Sam Christiansen also hit homers for the Sooners.

In the second game, OU jumped out to a quick start with four runs in both the first and second innings. The Sooners were on the verge of the 10-run rule after the fifth inning, when they led 10-1. OU finished off the Bears with two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Carmichael and Christiansen belted additional homers in the nightcap, while Kyle Branch and Drew Dickerson added homers to the Sooners offensive power.

OU is now 29-10 overall and 10-8 in the SEC. Missouri falls to 13-26, 0-18 SEC. The Sooners will open a three-game series at Georgia Thursday evening. The game will air on ESPNU at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
