Tulsa, Okla. — The Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa reports a 23.1% increase in housing starts across the Tulsa metro area for the first four months of 2025, with 1,315 new residential permits issued, compared to 1,064 during the same period in 2024.

April 2025 saw 253 new home starts, a slight decrease of 13% compared to April 2024 (286), reflecting a moderation following a strong first quarter. The year began with a dramatic surge in January 2025, up 57.4% over the prior year — the highest single-month year-over-year increase so far.

“The 2025 market is tracking ahead of expectations in key areas like Tulsa County, Broken Arrow, and Bixby,” said Jeffrey Smith, CEO of the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa. “While some areas saw slower activity in April, overall demand remains strong across the region. The strong start to the year has positioned us well heading into the peak building season.”

 Looking Ahead

With the summer building season underway, the HBA expects continued interest in new home construction, supported by stable demand, a strong labor force, and ongoing development in multiple municipalities. The Greater Tulsa Parade of Homes is the perfect time to get out and see where the newest additions are being built. This year it is June 14 – 22, 2025, 1-7 p.m.
