Green Bay defeated the Tulsa Oilers, 58-26, on Sunday in Wisconsin, to advance to the IFL Eastern Conference Championship. It was the Oilers first playoff game in franchise history.

Tulsa was plagued by turnovers throughout the game and on their first possession of the game, the Oilers fumbled the ball away inside the red zone after a mishandled exchange in the backfield between Sam Castronova and Jimmy Smith.

The Blizzard recovered the fumble and on the team’s first drive of the game, Kymani Clarke caught a touchdown pass in the end zone to give Green Bay the early lead.

Tulsa had another scoring opportunity, but this time it ended with Castronova throwing an interception from the four-yard line while trying to avoid a sack. Green Bay led 7-0 after one quarter of play.

The second quarter opened with a deep touchdown pass from Max Meylor to Andre Williams to put the Blizzard ahead, 14-0.

The Oilers finally got on the scoreboard with a three-yard quarterback keeper by Castronova to cut the deficit to 14-7.

Green Bay continued their dominance as Clarke scored on a rushing touchdown to extend the Blizzard’s lead to 21-7.

Tulsa’s offense answered with a seven-yard touchdown pass from Castronova to Cole Blackman along the goal line to the right sidewall to make it 21-14.

A field goal by Green Bay’s Andrew Mevis gave the Blizzard a 24-14 lead at halftime.

Green Bay opened the scoring in the second half, as Clarke carried the ball four yards into the end zone, giving the Blizzard a 31-14 advantage.

On Tulsa’s next drive, Castronova threw his second interception of the game, and Green Bay scored on their following drive as quarterback Max Meylor connected with TJ Davis on a touchdown pass to put the Blizzard ahead 38-14.

Castronova settled down a bit and found Isiah Scott with touchdown pass to put the score at 38-20.

The Blizzard’s Davis caught another touchdown pass to close the third-quarter scoring with Green Bay leading 45-20. Castronova threw another interception into the hands of the Green Bay defense towards the end of the third forcing Tulsa to enter the final quarter down by 25.

In the fourth quarter, the Blizzard added two touchdowns by Jazeric Peterson, to extend their lead to 58-20.

Castronova threw his fourth interception of the game, forcing the Oilers to bring in Carl Robinson II at quarterback. Robinson threw a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone to Blackman to end the Oilers’ scoring for the day.

Tulsa finished the season with a 10-7 record.

In the other Eastern Conference matchup, Quad City defeated Jacksonville, 57-41. Green Bay will face the Quad City Steamwheelers on Saturday, and the winner will advance to play in the IFL National Championship.
