It was a quiet day for Oklahoma as the Sooners only signed one football player, linebacker David Ugwoegbu, to add to the 23 players inked during the early signing period.

“We’re very happy to add David to this historic OU class,” said OU coach Lincoln Riley. “It’s a class that a lot of people worked really hard to put together and I think this is going to be a championship group that will help us continue to tackle all of the goals that we have here as a program.”

ESPN ranked OU’s class as No. 4 in the nation while 246Sports and Rivals had the Sooner class at No. 5.

Ugwoegbu (6-4, 220 pounds) was a defensive end and tight end at Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas. A four-star recruit, he will play outside linebacker at OU. OU has signed 11 offensive players – including quarterback Spencer Rattler – and 13 defensive players. Nine of those recruits are already enrolled and will go through spring drills.
