Tulsa used a strong perimeter game to outshoot UTSA, 100-74, on Sunday in the Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane sank 12 three-pointers to set the single season program record and now has 292 three’s this season.

Tulsa is now 22-6 overall and 10-5 in the American Athletic Conference. UTSA dropped to 5-22, 1-14 American.

Tulsa opened up a sizeable lead in the first half by going on a 10-2 run midway through the half. Ade Popoola dominated in the opening half and scored back-to-back three-pointers to give Tulsa’s a 27-13 lead with 9:44 left in the first half. Tulsa held a 53-37 advantage at halftime.

Tulsa maintained its lead in the second half against UTSA, opening with a strong defensive and offensive performance. Tulsa took a 20-point lead when Popoola hit a three-pointer with 6:31 remaining to extended Tulsa’s lead to 85-65.

David Green led Tulsa with 27 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Popoola finished with a career-high 26 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and five steals. Tylen Riley added 13 points and recorded six assists. Romad Dean scored 11 points and collected six rebounds off the bench.

UTSA was led by Jamir Simpson with 20 points and five rebounds, and Dorian Hayes with 19.
