No. 11 ranked Auburn earned a run-rule victory over No. 14 Oklahoma, 14-4 in eight innings on Sunday at Auburn, Alabama. OU is now 29-14 overall, 11-10 in the SEC, while Auburn improved to 30-13, 12-9 SEC.
The Sooners scored first with a pair of runs in the first inning, but the Tigers took control of the game to earn the early win. Jaxon Willits and Camden Johnson knocked in the two runs for the Sooners in the opening frame.
The Tigers would go on to score runs in the second, third, fourth, sixth and eighth innings. Auburn belted six home runs in the game, and it was the most allowed by OU this season.
OU scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings on a sacrifice fly from Trey Gambill and solo home run by Nolan Stevens, his fifth of the season.
Oklahoma’s starting left-handed pitcher Cord Rager took his second loss of the season, going three innings and surrendering four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
OU lost game one of the series on Friday, 6-4. On Saturday, the Sooners won a pitching duel, 2-1.
The Sooners will host Florida in a three-game series this weekend, beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
