• U.S. Senator for the seat left vacant by Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin: The Democratic runoff  – no endorsements.
  • Oklahoma Governor – Republican Runoff – the Tulsa Beacon endorses Mike Mazzei.  Gentner Drummond is a Democrat in disguise, a RINO at best. He believes at the state level it does not matter which party the candidate belongs to.
  • Superintendent of Public Instruction – Republican Runoff – endorses Dr. James Taylor, a true conservative.  Although Robert Franklin has more of the credentials you would look for, after perusing the education books he recommends he appears much more liberal than his campaign would lead you to believe,  and the Tulsa Beacon cannot recommend Franklin.
  • State Labor Commissioner –  Republican Runoff – Kevin West – a true conservative who looks out for his constituents.  West and Rep. Tom Gann together have been battling the utility rate increases in court.
  • State Insurance Commissioner – Rep. Marty Quinn
  • SQ 846 – Voter ID – Vote No Oklahoma already has a good Voter ID  law, the legislature wants to put this SQ in the Constitution to keep it from being changed in the future. However this SQ does not have the definitions of what ID will work or details of who can vote, ie. citizens or non-citizens, like the law does. Vote No until a version can be brought before the people that includes these safeguards – we already have a law which includes those safeguards until then.
  • SQ 844 – Vote No – This is an issue where the State Constitution says that the State will reimburse certain monies  to the county, cities, schools and libraries, etc. that would have been collected if that certain business did not have an exemption from ad valorem taxes promised to them in order to entice the company to Oklahoma. This is already in the constitution.  The legislature sent this State Question to the ballot so that they could make laws about how this will be accomplished by writing formulas, etc. The problem I see with this is that it would now become changeable.  In the future they could write formulas that could possibly change the state’s percentage of the write off, leaving counties, cities, schools and libraries in the lurch.  This was voted into the Constitution  by the people, now the legislature wants to change it. I find that I trust the Constitution more than the legislature with leaders that change. With a yes vote you are saying you will trust leaders in the future whomever they may be.
  • State Senate District 34 – Republican Runoff, the Tulsa Beacon happily endorses Dana Prieto, a proven conservative.
  • State House District 9 – Republican Runoff – both Scottie Stokes and Crystal Campbell are very good at serving the public, are accomplished in their careers and volunteer work,  and are conservatives. Both in their own ways would make good legislatures.  The Tulsa Beacon would give an edge to Stokes in education, with this being a very critical time in Oklahoma for education reform.

Tulsa City Council

  • District 1 – no endorsements, But Thomas William Moore seems to be the more moderate in a group of liberals.
  • District 2 – no endorsements: Archie is a moderate Republican and the more conservative Bisogno’s issues are mainly federal issues (conservative and good ones), but he is all for transparency of budget (local issue).
  • District 3 – no endorsement but Jackie Dutton is less liberal than Tanisha Bowen.
  • District 5 – Burnett is endorsed by the Democratic party, and Gilbert is a moderate Republican.  The Tulsa Beacon recommends Gilbert.
  • District 7 – definitely NOT Lori Dector Wright – very liberal, NOT Kenny Wogoman a previous marijuana activist, that leaves Dave Perry as the logical candidate.
  • District 9 –  No endorsement but the Tulsa Beacon recommends Pete Regan as the most moderate of the choices available. He is a former Democrat, now a moderate Republican.

ONG Franchise vote –  Vote Yes it just extends the right of ONG to provide gas service in Tulsa and to pay the city some of their proceeds.

SOME VOTERS WILL ALSO BE VOTING ON A DISTRICT 14 OFFICE 4 JUDGE’S RACE

The Tulsa Beacon endorses DUSTIN ALLEN, definitely NOT Loretta Radford – very liberal minded.
