The Girl Scouts of the United States of America are mad at the Boy Scouts of America.
The BSA, in a move to be more “gender friendly,” have dropped “Boy” from their name and now go by “Scouts of America.” This was an effort to get girls to join what used to be the Boy Scouts.
The Girl Scouts are suing, claiming that the words “scouts” or “scouting” can’t be used by the BSA in recruitment of girls.
There is trouble in paradise. The Girl Scouts and other major national youth groups are losing members to soccer clubs, changing lifestyles and other social developments.
Earlier this year, the Boy Scout (for ages 11-17) said it would change the name to Scouts BSA. The parent organization will still be the Boy Scouts of America and the Cub Scouts (kindergarten through fifth grade) won’t change. Girls can already join the Cub Scouts and Scout BSA will accept girls next year.
The Girls Scouts have heard rumors that they have merged with BSA or that the GSUSA no longer exists.
This is the price of the gender neutrality movement.
The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have had an immeasurable impact on the lives of young people for generations. That is changing, as openly homosexual adults can become scout leaders. And there is an effort to blur the unmistakable differences between boys and girls.
Progressive and homosexual advocates relish the idea of tearing down the moral status of scouting. Putting boys and girls in the same clubs is another step toward moral ambiguity.
