Mayor G.T. Bynum has buckled to public opinion and backed off his plan to put the Tulsa police and their actions under scrutiny by people with a liberal agenda.

Good.

Bynum has gone back to the drawing board to come up with a scheme that placates radical members of minority groups who think that police unjustly target minority suspects.

If police mistreat suspects – and they sometimes do – they are subject to review by Internal Affairs. And if that safeguard isn’t enough, citizens can always sue to get satisfaction if police act improperly,

But Bynum’s plan was seriously flawed. It didn’t sit well with some police officers and if truth be known, it would not have satisfied the radical elements of the ant-police crowd.

Bynum cares more about being liked than doing was is right.

Police have a tough job. They risk their lives during every shift. Police are being ambushed all over the nation.

In New York City, officers are doused with buckets of water and must walk away due to lack of support from the New York mayor.

In America, you are innocent until proven guilty. If the police are wrong, steps should be taken to insure justice.

But choosing political correctness over solid police work is a bad choice.
