Americans live in the most affluent nation in the history of the world. Americans enjoy more freedoms than other people can even imagine. That’s why so many are so desperate to come to America and make a new life.

Who should be thanked on Thanksgiving?

The Pilgrims who founded the tradition of a Thanksgiving feast were grateful to God and Jesus Christ. They recognized that everything important in life is a gift from God. It is not unreasonable for a nation so blessed to pause one day a year and thank Him for His grace and blessings.

Despite revisionist history, the truth is that America was founded by devout Christians.

Thanksgiving has been commercialized with Black Friday, in particular. Stores that used to open at 9 a.m. on Friday now open at noon on Thanksgiving. Some companies that used to give employees a paid holiday at Thanksgiving now require that they work. That’s too bad for them and their families.

For many, Thanksgiving is only about food and football.

It’s more than that. It should be a time for families to gather, renew relationships and thank God for His favor.
