After a disappointing 7-5 regular season, Texas coach Tom Herman has fired defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and two other assistants. Offensive coordinator Tim Beck has been demoted to quarterback coach.

Receivers coach Drew Mehringer and inside receivers coach Corby Meekins were fired. The three fired coaches had been with Herman for three years at Texas and Orlando was with him at Houston. Craig Naivar, the Texas co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach, will be Texas’ defensive coordinator on an interim basis.

Also, South Florida in the American Athletic Conference fired former Texas head coach Charlie Strong after three seasons. He was 21-16 in three years.
