Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is married to another man, is drawing massive criticism for suggesting that American (and implicitly President Trump) is responsible for a civilian airliner shot down by mistake by the Iranian military.
The Ukrainian passenger plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran’s airport on January 9 after being hit by an Iranian anti-aircraft missile. All 176 people on board were killed.
“Innocent civilians are now dead because they were caught in the middle of an unnecessary and unwanted military tit for tat,” Buttigieg tweeted. Buttigieg is running for the Democrat nomination for president.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, responded.
“Uh, Pete, they weren’t ‘caught in the middle.’ They were shot down by Iran. Military incompetence by the leading state sponsor of terrorism. Just because Dems hate Trump doesn’t justify false equivalence w/ Iran. Soleimani was a brutal terrorist who killed hundreds of Americans,” Cruz wrote.
“If these reports are true, it means this airliner filled with hundreds of people was shot down by Iran just after Iran fired upon bases housing U.S. soldiers in Iraq. The U.S. did not fire back that night or since. There was no ‘in the middle.’ It was Iran. Iran did this. Period,” Washington Examiner reporter Jerry Dunleavy said.
Buttigieg is unfit to be president for a number of reasons. First, his immoral, homosexual lifestyle is not a role model for the young people of America. Secondly, his ultra-liberal policies would destroy our economy and wreck our standard of living. And finally, even though he was in the military, he doesn’t understand the danger that America faces in this world and therefore would hinder instead of lead our military.
