Tulsa Animal Welfare (TAW) is continuing to make changes to its operations and expand its service hours.

TAW extended its open selection and field service hours to seven days a week.

Under open selection, a citizen can request to adopt an animal during the three-day waiting period when the animal’s owner can pick their animal up. If they don’t pick up the animal, the adopting citizen can get the animal after its been spayed or neutered.

If the original owner pick up the animal, the adoption fee is refunded. Animal Welfare Officers will now be responding to calls seven days a week.

Previously, officers responded Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Hours now extend through the weekend, on both Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

TAW extended its shelter hours last summer on the weekends, opening on Sundays. And in late 2019, TAW was able to expand its staffing, hiring a Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator and a Pet Diversion and Helpline Coordinator.
