Broken Arrow Mayor Craig Thurmond terminated the city’s emergency declarations for sheltering in place on April 23 but the city will follow Stitt’s Safer at Home order for vulnerable people through May 6.
“My fellow City Councilors and myself, as well as our City Manager and his staff feel the governor’s plan is sensible and Broken Arrow will follow a plan consistent with the Governor’s,” Thurmond said.
City Manager Michael Spurgeon has also set up three internal recovery task forces to focus on these areas: organizational operations, CARES Act & Stimulus Opportunities, and economic recovery.
“We will begin the reopening in phases, and with specific guidance from the President and the Governor,” Spurgeon said. “We will be spending the next week preparing to work with businesses and other organizations as outlined in the Governor’s plan to open on May 1.”
