March 12 is the deadline to register to vote in the April 6 election, which includes school board races, suburban city council races and some school and municipal bond votes, according to Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Gwen Freeman.
Freeman urges voters who want absentee ballots mailed to them for the April 6 election to apply now even though election officials can accept applications for absentee ballots until 5 p.m. on March 30.
Ballots must be in the hands of election officials by 7 p.m. on election day to be counted.
The school board races are Tulsa Public Schools District 3; Berryhill Public Schools Office 1; Union Public Schools Office 1; Sand Springs Public Schools Office 1; Sperry Public Schools Office 1; Owasso Public Schools Office 1 and Tulsa Technology Center District 6.
The city council races for Wards 1 and 2 in Broken Arrow; Ward 2 in Glenpool; Wards 4 and At-large in Jenks and Wards 2 and 5 in Skiatook. Liberty Public Schools is having a bond election and the City of Bixby will vote on some propositions.
Registration forms are available at the County Election Board office at 555 N. Denver Ave., most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries. Applications are available at www.elections.ok.gov.
