Here’s a not-so-amusing story.

The California Attractions and Parks Association has declared that only in-state visitors will be able to enter the parks and they will have to limit the numbers of visitors to 15% of capacity this year.

And screaming will not be allowed on roller coasters or other rides. Singing and shouting will be banned.

In other words, you won’t have any fun or be amused at California amusement parks this year.

California theme parks are expected to open in the next few weeks. It’s a big business in that state. And it is an important tool to help Californians recover from being cooped up under that state’s ultra-restrictive rules concerning the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

The association’s “responsible reopening plan,” that was released in September, park officials must require visitors to wear masks and they have to modify the seating arrangements on rides.

They claim that shouting and singing spreads the virus and kills people.

California officials said theme parks, sports games and outdoor events could open at limit capacity beginning April 1, but  the county the park is in must reach the red tier in the state’s reopening criteria.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park will reopen with limited capacity on April 30, Disney announced. Six Flags Magic Mountain will reopen the Valencia theme park to members and passholders at limited capacity on April 1 and 2, and to the general public on April 3.

Here’s an even better idea. Go the Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, or to Disney World in Orlando. Missouri and Florida officials have common sense and they are not trying to strip fun away from amusement parks for unscientific and bureaucratic nonsense.
