Cancer Treatment Centers of America will close operations in Tulsa at the end of May.

Why is CTCA Tulsa closing?

According to their website, “We have worked tirelessly over multiple years to overcome the insurmountable patient access and insurance limitations for CTCA Tulsa, highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, that have inexplicably restricted patient care options and prevented choice. After exhausting all options, unfortunately, we realized the Oklahoma market was not going to expand options for patients to treat at CTCA Tulsa, which led to this very difficult decision.”

CTCA Tulsa will close operations as of June 1, 2021.

“We are committed to ensuring the seamless transition of your care to either another CTCA hospital or to a local option, as preferred,” according to the website.

CTCA will contact patients who have scheduled appointments. Patients will have the option of transferring to another CTCA facility.

The center also will help patients find medical care in Tulsa.

The patient portal will continue to be open and accommodations will be made for ongoing prescriptions.

According to the website, “CTCA has a strong future in markets that support growth and expansion of health care services. In order to deliver the highest quality of care and treatment options for the tens of thousands of patients who seek our care, our future must focus on operating in communities where we can develop and grow.

“Building on more than thirty years of patient-centered, high-quality care, CTCA has developed future-focused strategies to grow and invest deeply in these communities, our physicians, our stakeholders, our cancer treatment service offerings, clinical trials, and strategic partnerships. Leaning on our thirty-year history of forward-thinking cancer care, we will also lead the evolution of cancer care in the areas of precision medicine, telehealth, and in -home cancer care.”
