Former President George W. Bush not only didn’t vote for President Donald Trump but now he is publicly admitting that he wrote in the name of Condoleeza Rice, who was his secretary of state.
This is indicative of the uphill battle Trump faced for four years. Trump had to overcome the Democrats, the liberal media and the “country club” Republicans like Bush.
Why did Bush not vote for Trump? The simple answer is that he despises Trump because Trump smashed his brother Jeb Bush in the 2016 GOP primaries.
The Bush Family is not conservative. They are moderates at best. They are not strongly against abortion (George H.W. Bush was pro-choice until he ran for vice president in 1980). George W. Bush worked with Democrats to expand the deficit. The Bushes nominated Supreme Court justices that they claimed were strict constructionists but they are not, based on their series of progressive decisions.
The Republican Party has a decades-old habit of nominating moderates for president who pretend to be conservative. That includes Bob Dole, both Bushes, John McCain and Mitt Romney. The late McCain and now Romney also hated Trump. Romney actually voted to impeach Trump on phony charges of collusion with Russia.
These politicians are sold out to the military establishment. They start endless wars and they collude with Democrats to raise taxes.
Trump didn’t play ball with them. He’s not a politician – he’s a businessman.
There are some conservative Republicans who despise Trump because of his mannerisms. But if they voted for Joe Biden or if they left the ballot blank, they shoulder the blame for four years of secular progressivism that is currently damaging our nation.
George W. Bush was a better former president when he kept his mouth shut.
