Those who advocated for the legalization of medical marijuana were correct when they predicted a windfall in state taxes for the sale of pot.

If they knew that the proliferation of the sale marijuana would be this large, they were not disclosing that.

Oklahoma essentially has legalized recreational marijuana. It is very easy to get access to marijuana for medical reasons and many Oklahomans are taking full advantage.

Just look around Tulsa.

There are dispensaries on almost every major intersection.

Predictions that the number of dispensaries would thin out have not come true.

And in rural Oklahoma, major marijuana farms are springing up all over the place. Law enforcement is genuinely concern about the ownership of these farms, including several that could be owned by people outside this country.

The medical benefits of marijuana are overshadowed by its detrimental impact on health and society in general. It’s interesting that while Oklahoma is spending millions of dollars to end smoking, public educators are giddy about the increased use of marijuana because it generates taxes that they hope will be used only for education.

Oklahoma has opened the door to marijuana and with Joe Biden as president and the Democrats controlling Congress, it won’t be long until recreational use of marijuana is legalized nationwide.

There will be a price to pay for this “windfall.”
