…Edward V. Harris wrote that Mr. “Trump has no Christian principles.”
Apparently Mr. Harris is convinced that this true but it is necessary to challenge that belief. Recently, I read a book, The Faith of Donald J. Trump: A Spiritual Biography – written by David Phillip Brody and Walter Scott Lamb. The book contains two parts and readers can see a description of a flawed human being (aren’t we all?) but one who has made changes in his life’s journey from many bad choices and actions. He has changed political parties over the years, had multiple marriages and affairs, and had manifested a worldview contrary to the Bible and to his upbringing.
This book describes an amazing personal history along with an interesting history of religion in America. The legacy of his parents and their respective religious upbringing and subsequent raising of their own children (Donald was the oldest) being described. It was very hard to put this book down because of the many examples which showed the personal involvement in religious practices of his family.
The authors gave an objective report of many first-hand contacts many religious leaders have had with Mr. Trump. There are multiple collaborative descriptions of the changes which they saw and see in this man who literally had “come (to this position) for a time like this.”
Mr. Trump’s personal and private comments about himself as a changed person – one who was “born again” eventually but not so for many years – is all anyone can accept as truthful. He acknowledged his pattern of misconduct but now seeks to demonstrate personal religious beliefs. His actions even now need a lot changes to appear Christ-like but the ongoing spiritual mentoring, prayer support and with him surrounding himself with others who are professing Christians (not by accident but by evidence that God does still involve Himself in the affairs of men – it is certain that he is POTUS not by accident.
Perhaps his “special placement” is not by any political party’s skills and funding but by a calling we do not realize was a part of God’s plan to “make America great again.”
Look at the overt and covert enemies who viciously confront him, who hate him and who have designed assassination plots which have been foiled. His enemies focus on doing all they can to destroy him and remove him from office. It is public knowledge that his accomplishments are many and remarkable. His is keeping his campaign promises like no other president has done.
It is necessary to daily intercede for Mr. Trump’s personal safety and for his Godly wisdom and to ask the Lord to continue to have him mature spiritually. Pray that God will make America great again as only He can. Pray also that God Himself will bring defeat to the enemy forces that are identified in Ephesians 6:10-20. Also, see II Chronicles 7:14 and pray daily for citizen compliance so God can heal our nation.
