Brighter Day Inc (BDI) has been “Making the World a Brighter Place to Live” for over thirty years by providing essential residential services for adults with developmental disabilities.

Cherokee tribal member Roy Payton is BDI’s founder and CEO of its 100+ employees who care for Oklahoma clients. As a residential provider, BDI provides staff to promote independence and personal fulfillment for our developmentally disabled clients. BDI has been a positive influence for clients for three decades!

Payton got his start in the disabilities services field while he was in college working on his Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation from Oklahoma State University (OSU). One of his professors convinced Roy to help him with a summer camp for kids with disabilities in Indiana. Trying out the camp experience became a turning point in his life to become involved in the industry.  Payton saw the need for additional residential agencies with the closing of Hissom Memorial Center and opened BDI in November 1990.

Now, thirty years later, and with 49 clients, Payton leans on the office staff and caregivers to handle the tactical day to day operations while still providing leadership.  Payton’s wife, Pam Brown, was instrumental in launching the business as well.
