Minshall Park, 7404 S. Kingston Ave., will be closed to the public until February 2022 for a project including dredging the pond and other improvements.
The pond dredging operation will remove an estimated 17,800 cubic yards of silt from the upper and lower retention ponds, making the pond an average of 8 feet deep.
The goal is to improve water quality for a healthy pond, raising oxygen levels for wildlife.
This project also includes the following improvements for Minshall Park:
- Sidewalk replacement, repair and new additions
- Concrete maintenance trail addition
- Existing pavilion improvements to correct drainage
- New diffused aeration system
Funding for this project comes from the City of Tulsa’s stormwater utility fee. The estimated cost is about $700,000.
