New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said he “will never agree with anyone disrespecting the flag of the United States” and then apologized for his statement.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance on June 3, Brees also told ESPN he stands with his teammates fighting for “racial equality and justice” but also with the nation’s military.

Brees got criticism from black teammates and he backpedaled on his support of the flag.

That’s how bad things are in America.

Saying that you love Old Glory means that you are politically incorrect because black athletes have chosen to dishonor the flag by kneeling during the playing of the national anthem. So Brees felt like he had to apologize for a patriotic statement.

This is a telling episode.

First, it shows Brees’ level of conviction. He didn’t say anything wrong. If someone was offended by support of our flag – and our nation – they have the right to freely criticize America.

Loving the flag doesn’t mean hating black people.

This shows the level of suppression of free speech that is required by political correctness now.

Brees apologized for “years of oppression of the black community” in America and he said he has not done enough to “fight for equality.”

Admittedly, Brees needs to be on good terms with his black teammates.

In September, Brees backpedaled after he appeared in a video by Focus on the Family that encouraged Christian students to take their Bibles to school.

What was wrong with that?

Homosexuals complained that Focus on the Family is “hostile to gays.” Focus on the Family adheres to the Bible’s condemnation of homosexuality and that is not allowed by liberals these days. Brees needs to stick to his beliefs and stop apologizing for the U.S. flag and the Bible.
