Under the direction of President Biden, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) opened directed investigations in five states – including Oklahoma – to find justification to circumvent bans on forced mask wearing in public schools.

The federal bureaucrats think it is discriminatory toward students with disabilities and they are out to prove their case. Students in Oklahoma are not banned from wearing masks at school but it is against state law to mandate it unless Gov. Kevin Stitt declares a public health emergency. U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona sent threatening letters to state school superintendents in Oklahoma, Iowa, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah. .

The federal agents from the Office of Civil Rights have not opened investigations in Florida, Texas, Arkansas or Arizona because those states’ bans on universal indoor masking are not currently being enforced as a result of court orders or other state actions.

On Aug. 18, Biden issued a presidential memorandum directing the Secretary of Education to “assess all available tools in taking action, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law” to force the governors and legislatures of states to accept his policy of forcing students, faculty and staff to wear masks at school.
