Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a new freedom to speak his mind about Israeli-American relations

In June, Netanyahu lost a 59-60 vote to a new coalition government led by Naftali Bennett. President Joe Biden, who is no great friend to Israel, was apparently happy to see Netanyahu’s defeat and Biden quickly congratulated Bennett.

In a speech before the Knesset, Netanyahu described the difficulties in dealing with an American government led by Biden, who is soft on Iran – a great enemy of Israel and the United States.

Netanyahu said Biden’s administration had pleaded with him to “not to discuss our disagreement on Iran publicly.”

“But with all due respect, I can’t do that,” Netanyahu said.

The Jerusalem Post said Netanyahu compared the attempt by the U.S. to return to the Iran nuclear deal to the decision by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt not to bomb the train tracks that led to Auschwitz — the German concentration camp — when there was an opportunity in 1944.

“The prime minister of Israel needs to be able to say no to the president of the United States on issues that threaten our existence,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu in  2015 gave a speech in front of a joint session of Congress to voice his dismay over the Obama-era nuke deal.

Netanyahu said there is great celebration in Iran over his defeat because the new leadership will follow international concerns more than the best interest of Israel.

Isreal is an important ally of the United States in the Middle East. Former President Obama damaged that relationship while former President Donald Trump made great stride for peace in that region.

Biden is determined to repeat Obama’s mistakes.
