Seven candidates have filed for the empty District 7 Council seat which was left open by the resignation of Councilor Anna America.

One of the candidates is Michael Patton, the husband of America.

A special vote will coincide with the November 6 general election and the top vote recipient in District 7 will win that seat.

Also on November 6, there will be elections for seats in districts 3, 4 and 5. The candidates for the Nov. 6 election are: Crista Patrick and Justin Rolph, District 3; Daniel Regan and Kara Joy McKee, District 4; and Cass Fahler and Mykey Arthrell, District 5.

In District 7, Eric Turley, Ellouise Cochrane, Lori Decter Wright, Brandon McCombs, Elliott Parker, Ken Reddick and Patton filed.

America quit after she was named city parks director by Mayor G.T. Bynum.

Turley is a mortgage lender with TheLender. He lost to America for the District 7 seat in 2014.

Decter Wright is director of Kendall Whittier Inc. Decter Wright ran for Oklahoma House District 67 seat in 2016 but lost.

The mayor has a four-year term and is not on the ballot in 2018. The city elections are “nonpartisan.”
