If you think that the Oklahoma Supreme Court is unbiased and non-political, you are kidding yourself.

Even though many decisions are based on a reasonable view of the law, this court has a track record of twisting their big decisions according to a liberal ideology.

The justices, most of whom were appointed by liberal Democrat governors, have ruled against protection for unborn children, the rights of taxpayers and for overturning the Defense of Marriage Act that prohibited homosexual marriage.

They have surrendered Oklahoma’s 10th Amendment rights to bow before the progressive U.S. Supreme Court.

Gov. Kevin Stitt may have just taken a step to reverse that progressive trend with the nomination of Judge M. John Kane, IV, of Pawhuska, to the Supreme Court of Oklahoma.

This is Stitt’s first appointment to the state Supreme Court. Unlike former Gov. Mary Fallin, Stitt makes his own decisions and isn’t a pawn of chamber of commerce types in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

It seems that Judge Kane values human life and will rule on the side of morality instead of political correctness. Oklahomans are against abortion and want it stopped even without the repeal of the Roe v. Wade decision. Several states are challenging legalized abortion and Oklahoma would be in that fight if not for the cowardice of Republican leadership in the Legislature and liberal justices on the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

It’s way past time for a change in direction for the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Maybe Judge Kane will provide that leadership.
