Oklahoma defensive end Ronnie Perkins, Oklahoma State safety Kolby Harvell-Peel and Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins were among 90 players selected to the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the top defensive player in college football.

Perkins, a junior, had 13.5 tackles for lost yardage and six sacks last season when he was named to second-team All-Big 12 honors. Against Baylor, he had three sacks.

Harvell-Peel was a first-team All-Big 12 selection as a sophomore in 2019 with 71 tackles, five interceptions, 13 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and a sack. He was honored by the OSU coaches with the Bob Fenimore Award presented to the team’s most valuable player.

Also noteworthy, Harvell-Peel led the Big 12 and ranked fourth in the FBS with 1.5 passes defended per game in 2019. His up six pass break ups as part of Oklahoma State’s win at No. 23 Iowa State set a school record and matched the highest single-game total in the FBS in 2019.

A junior from Hominy, Collins had 97 tackles including eight TFLs, two sacks and two pass breakups last season. He was a second-team American Athletic Conference selection. Collins has played in 24 career games with 22 starts and has totaled 182 tackles and 17.5 TFLs, six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. A 2018 Freshman All-American as named by USA Today and FWAA, Collins has six double-figure tackle games and two blocked kicks in his career.
