The City of Tulsa on September 12 will start an effort to clean up a site in the 36th Street North and Hawthorne area.  The goal is to assist in the revitalization of the Hawthorne neighborhood.

For two weeks, from Sept. 12 to Sept. 26, Hawthorne residents will receive help cleaning up trash, junk and debris from their property, including the removal of overgrown bushes, inoperable vehicles, needed tree cutting, and addressing stray animals.

WIN will assist by providing trash bags, gloves, dumpsters and scheduling bulky waste pick up throughout the area. These services will be provided free of charge during this time. Applications will also be available for housing rehabilitation assistance to qualified home owners.

Once the project in the area has ended, the city will return to addressing code violations through its normal code enforcement and abatement process.
