On Monday, night No. 17 Oklahoma State completed the regular season sweep of No. 16. Oklahoma, 79-75, in Stillwater.

Cowboy Cade Cunningham, who leads the Big 12 in scoring, only had 15 points but he scored 13 key points in the second half as OSU prevailed.

Kalib Boone had 17 points and nine rebounds, and Bryce Williams scored 14 for the Cowboys (17-6, 10-6 Big 12), who won their fifth straight game overall and earned their third consecutive win over a ranked opponent.

Brady Manek had 20 points for OU (14-8, 9-7) and Austin Reaves added 19.

On Saturday, Cunningham scored a career-high 40 points as the Cowboys edged the Sooners 94-90 in overtime in Norman.

The two teams squared off against Monday night in Stillwater to complete a pair of makeup games.

Cunningham’s previous high was 29 points. Against OU on Saturday, he made 12 of 21 field goals and 13 of 14 free throws. He also finished with 11 rebounds three steals and two blocks.

“I think we can play better as a team,” said OSU coach Mike Boynton. “I don’t think we played our best game. We turned it over a lot. We didn’t really get (Kalib Boone) established as well as we wanted to. I thought our guys just played as hard as they could for 45 minutes and gave ourselves a chance but there’s a lot of room to grow still for this team in terms of execution.”

OU coach Lon Kruger said, “Jalen (Hill) and Elijah were on him for most of the time, and I thought they made him earn everything. Didn’t give him too many easy ones. Yeah, He answered the challenge and won the overall battle, for sure.”

Bryce Williams and Avery Anderson III each had 15 points for the Cowboys, who won their fourth straight game.

De’Vion Harmon paced the Sooners with a career-high 23 points and Austin Reaves contributed 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

Boynton heaped praise on Cunningham, who has been projected as the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft should he decide to go pro after his freshman season.

“There is no question in my mind who is the best player in the country,” Boynton said. “There’s no question in my mind, I know there’s a lot of really good players out there, whoever has the No. 1 pick, they can overthink this. This one is not that hard.”

Saturday was the first Bedlam game for Cunningham.

“I still went into the game with the same intensity,” Cunningham said. “Play to win, play for my team and my team trusted me throughout the game to take shots. With that confidence, I’m only confident to make them. I kept shooting and I didn’t know I ended up with 40 until the end.”
