KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma State will go in the history books as one of only two teams to win a game in the 2020 Big 12 Basketball Championship.
OSU edged Iowa State 72-21 on March 11 in the opening round of the tournament and then the Big 12 decided to play the rest of the games without fans.
Subsequently, the NCAA not only canceled the NCAA Basketball Tournaments but all spring sports due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. (See related story on Page 1).
OSU’s Isaac Likekele hit the winning shot with 3.8 seconds left in the win over ISU. Likekele led the Cowboys with 21 points. OSU trailed almost the entire second half.
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby nearly banned fans for those two opening games but decided it was too close to the event.
