A lot of time, effort and expense went into trying to stop the success of the movie Unplanned.

The schemes didn’t work.

The movie chronicles the story of a woman who had worked at Planned Parenthood abortion clinic for years until she witnessed an actual abortion. That changed her life and the movie tells this true story of her newfound respect for life.

The success of movies usually is decided by how many screens they are on for their opening weekend and especially on their opening night. There were serious efforts to sabotage Unplanned. Twitter suspended the movie’s account (but three hours later mysteriously restored service). A spokesman said the suspension was triggered by a “previous violation” but it was timed to happen on the opening Saturday of the film. Hours after the Twitter suspension, the total follower count dropped from 200,000 to fewer than 200. The major TV networks and most cable networks (except Fox and the Christian Broadcasting Network) refused to air commercials for the movie. They said it was too “controversial.”

This was after the Christian movie was slapped with an R-rating – a clumsy attempt to keep evangelicals from buying tickets. Do you see a pattern here?

The U.S. Senate did. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, recently held a hearing to see why Twitter targeted this film and to shed light on the manipulation by social media and TV networks.

Fortunately, the movie’s Facebook page was not tampered with and that explains how that even with a limited release, the movie was the fourth highest grossing film in America during that first weekend.

And there are reports that more than 100 workers at Planned Parenthood have resigned after seeing the movie and its exposures of the lies of abortion clinics.

This is a dynamic film that won’t be stopped by the liberal elites who run social media.
