Broken Arrow state Sen. Nathan Dahm was elected Chairman of the Republic Party of Oklahoma, at the State Convention held Saturday in Tulsa at the Union Schools UMAC Center. As chairman Sen. Dahm will be responsible for recruiting candidates to run for office, to fundraise for the party and to encourage and facilitate voter registration drives.
Sen. Dahm won the chairman position in a three way race with the current Chairman A. J. Ferate and former state Rep. Sean Roberts. Ferate lost in the first round of the race, leaving a runoff between Dahm and Roberts. In the runoff, Dahm came up with 60 percent of the vote and Roberts with the remaining 40 percent.
Sen. Dahm will retain his position as senator while serving as Party Chairman.
Dahm will concentrate on recruiting Republicans for office that will follow the Republican party platform. He would also like to improve the relationship between the state and county party officials.
Wayne Hill, the director of the state Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association, was elected as vice chairman.
