Democrats in the U.S. Senate call themselves “pro-choice” and not “pro-abortion” while describing others as “anti-abortion” rather than the preferred term of “pro-life.”
Several actions recently prove that the “pro-abortion” tag is more realistic.
U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Nebraska, recently introduced a bill that had a simple message. If an unborn baby survived an attempted abortion and made it outside the womb and lived, that baby should be afforded every right granted under our laws and Constitution. That includes life.
The bill failed a floor vote because 44 Democrats wanted to reserve the right for a “doctor” to snuff out a life of a late-term baby who had been born for the convenience of the mother.
In other words, 44 senators voted for infanticide.
President Donald Trump let them know how he felt about the vote.
“Senate Democrats just voted against legislation to prevent the killing of newborn infant children,” Trump tweeted. “The Democrat position on abortion is now so extreme that they don’t mind executing babies after birth.
“If there is one thing we should all agree on, it’s protecting the lives of innocent babies.”
Trump called it one of “the most shocking votes” in congressional history.
Leana Wen, the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said that she was “disgusted” by Trump’s remarks.
A doctor who didn’t treat a baby who survived an abortion could have gone to jail under the bill. The only three Democrats to vote to save children were Sens. Joe Manchin, West Virginia; Doug Jones, Alabama; and Bob Casey, Pennsylvania.
No, Trump told the truth. Leading Democrats want an abortion on demand and the legal use of it as birth control.
They can’t hide from that view after voting to kill a baby that has just been born.
