According to Senate Democrats, if you are a practicing Catholic, you are not fit to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2017 for a post on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Senate Democrats could find no reason to disqualify her for that post.

Barrett graduated first in her class from Notre Dame Law School. She was executive editor of the law review. The American Bar Association rated her as “well qualified.”

Ironically, Democrats want more “diversity” on the Court yet they are opposing a woman nominee simply because she was nominated by President Trump.

The Democrats major argument is that Barrett’s Catholic faith disqualifies her from serving.

In 2017, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (who is Jewish), said, “The dogma lives loudly within you, and that is a concern when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have fought for for years in this country.” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, asked Barrett if she was an “orthodox Catholic.” Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, criticized one of Barrett’s academic writings by saying: “I think your article is very plain in your perspective about the role of religion for judges, and particularly with regard to Catholic judges.”

In 2018, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-California, attacked Judge Brian Beuscher from Nebraska because he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic charity groups that President John F. Kennedy was a member of.

Article VI of the U.S. Constitution states that no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

The Democrats are not as direct about their Catholic bias this time because they can rely on the New York Times, the Washington Post, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and other liberal media outlets to do the smearing for them.

Fairness and civility is a lost cause among Senate Democrats.
