The plan for Oklahoma is not much different for the Oklahoma Democrat Party than it is for the national Democrat Party. According to state Democrats, here’s what they want to see enacted in Oklahoma.

  • Expand welfare through Medicaid.
  • Have the government lower drug prices.
  • End the cash bail system.
  • Release more “non-violent” prisoners.
  • Reduce court fines.
  • Throw more and more money on public education.
  • Do away with A-F grades for schools.
  • Create special rights for people who take out student loans.
  • Raise the state minimum wage.

Translation: they want a bigger and more expensive state government. And that means higher taxes. And those taxes are not just for the “rich” but on the middle class. They want hard-working Oklahomans to foot the bill for more public services.

The Democrat rhetoric doesn’t match their track record.

Lower taxes and smaller government spurs growth in the private sector and that helps everyone. Making more people dependent on government services doesn’t really help those people and it sure doesn’t help taxpayers.

After the Legislature has spent hundreds of millions of extra dollars with public schools, the results are still the same. Education needs some serious reforms but leading Democrats won’t accept that.  Just because someone committed a crime that is “non-violent “ doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be any consequences. And if you eliminate cash bail, how do you get defendants to show up for trial?

Thank goodness we have a Republican governor.

Common sense needs to trump Democratic progressivism.
