Bad decisions have consequences.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health are dealing with one of the worst outbreaks of meningococcal disease among homosexual and bisexual men in U.S. history.
More than 24 cases and 7 deaths among homosexual and bisexual men have been reported this summer.
This is so dangerous that the CDC is recommending a meningococcal vaccine for any man who has sex with other men in Florida or any homosexual man traveling to Florida. They also recommend the vaccine for people with HIV.
The problem is worse because of the growing number of “pride” events.
Symptoms can include high fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea/vomiting, or a dark purple rash. People spread meningococcal bacteria to others by sharing respiratory and throat secretions (saliva or spit). Generally, it takes close or lengthy contact, such as kissing.
Meningococcal disease includes infections of the lining of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis) and bloodstream.
“Getting vaccinated against meningococcal disease is the best way to prevent this serious illness, which can quickly become deadly,” said José R. Romero, M.D., Director, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
No, it’s not. The best way to prevent this disease is to stop having sex with other men. Whether you admit it or not, sex outside of marriage is a sin.
Marriage between one man and one woman is the best way to avoid a sexually transmitted disease that might kill you.
There is hope for someone who is caught in the web of homosexual behavior. That is found in faith in Jesus Christ.
There is a price to pay for ignoring the advice grounded in the Bible. And more and more Americans are ignoring that advice and risking their lives.
