The Oklahoma Legislature has a chance to strike a blow against legalized abortion in the upcoming session in February.

But it won’t happen. There are courageous Republican lawmakers, like Sen. Nathan Dahm of Broken Arrow, and Rep. Tom Gann of Inola who fully appreciate not only the base immorality of abortion but the unconstitutionality of the Roe v. Wade decision.

They and other legislators – all Republicans – have worked to end the practice of killing unborn babies in Oklahoma. The struggle is against corrupt judges, Democrats, the news media and Republican leaders.

Republican leaders understand that they have to publicly blast abortion to get re-election but they also have to put the brakes on abolishing abortion in order to please the state power brokers, like the chamber of commerce, for example.

So, before each session, the Republican Caucus meets behind closed doors and approves legislation that seems to slow down abortion while pledging to kill any genuine ban on abortion.

And that will happen against this year. Even though the U.S. Supreme Court is closer than ever to repealing Roe v. Wade and even though most Oklahomans want to end abortion, nothing will be accomplished.

There are many important political issues but abortion kills innocent unborn babies by the thousands in our state.

Abortion must be abolished.
