Shame on America if Congress decides to make women register for the draft.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, a true conservative, filed an amendment to prevent the Democrats from making young women register for military draft.

Hawley said the proposal is “out of step” with America and he’s absolutely right.

Senate Armed Services Chair Jack Reed, D-R.I., proposed changing the National Defense Authorization Act’s language to require all “all Americans,” rather than just men, register for the draft. The change would be to “person”rather than men.

There is no doubt that women who volunteer for the military are a vital element of our ability to win wars and they have played a part since the Revolutionary War.

If they wish to serve, great. But it is absurd to force young women to be drafted and serve.

A commission with radical Democrats and progressive Republicans want women to be drafted because of “fairness.”

But recent polling shows that less than half of the Americans polled don’t want their daughters or wives to be forced to sign up for a draft.

Restricting military registration to men is not discriminatory – it’s pragmatic. In times of national emergency, men are the choice for almost all combat positions.

And talk of a draft itself it highly unpopular. The voluntary service was working quite well until Joe Biden placed a vaccination mandate on all service men and they quit in droves.

Men will volunteer to go to war to protect their families and their country. Making women sign up for a military draft is contrary to the values that America was founded upon.
