My late mother-in-law used to say she read the newspaper with half-eye glasses because she only believed half of what she read there was true.
A short article in the Tulsa Beacon (April 29, 2021) would have stunned her. It’s titled “‘Equitable Math’ in California.” The article is indeed true but its content is lunacy beyond belief. Note that “equitable math” is a seductive liberal label ala “pro-choice” for abortions.
The equitable math initiative in California aims to take racism out of math. According to the related training manual funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, math classes make racist mistakes, including:
- They focus on getting the “right” answer.
- Students’ progress is tracked.
- Students must “show their work.”
- Learning to speak English is equated with proficiency in math.
It’s difficult for me to believe such misguided “educational work” is on anyone’s agenda, even in California.
Surely(?), this will never happen in Oklahoma.
