Former Oklahoma State head football coach Pat Jones, host of The Pat Jones Show on the Sports Animal KYAL 97.1 FM, has been named the Oklahoma Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.
“We are very proud of what ‘Coach’ Jones has accomplished on The Sports Animal as he is the first radio only show-host in the awards 62-year history,” said Sports Animal/ESPN Tulsa program director Kevin Ward.
Jones has been co-hosting the 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. time slot for 16 years on KYAL 97.1 FM in Tulsa (and 10 a.m.-11 a.m. on WWLS in Oklahoma City) now named The Pat Jones Show.

Jones’ 62 wins were the most in OSU history until Gundy became head coach.
At OSU, he had an overall record of 62-60-3. In college, Jones was a linebacker and noseguard at Arkansas Tech before transferring to Arkansas.
