Are we on the verge of another Ice Age?

According to NASA, the answer is yes.

Actually, the Earth is due for what NASA calls a “solar minimum” or “grand minimum.” It would be a “mini ice age” by historic standards.

We assume that the Sun is constant but it’s not. It changes. Sophisticated filtered telescopes give us information about sunspots – highly magnetized areas that explode with solar flares. When they flare, they send out X-rays and heavy ultraviolet radiation. Every 11 years or so, sunspots fade away, bringing a period of relative calm and cooler temperatures.

The sun is heading toward solar minimum now. Sunspot counts were relatively high in 2014, and now they are sliding toward a low point expected in 2020.

In solar minimums, coronal holes in the Sun’s atmosphere open up and cause temporary disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field.  This can affect weather. It can make the Earth colder. In the past, this solar cycle has produced ice ages of varying length. We are technically still in an ice age because we have ice-covered polar regions.

This is science. Most believers in “global warming” or “climate change” discount the idea that the Sun has any effect on climate on Earth. That’s absurd.

The Sun has a dramatic effect on life on Earth. Is it going to get colder? Yes. Could it affect agriculture? Maybe. Should we panic? No. Can we stop this mini ice age? No.

When someone says we have “climate change” – that really means nothing. No one argues that the climate is always the same. That’s why radicals shifted their language from “global warming” to “climate change.”

It will be interesting to see if this gets any coverage from the liberal news media.
