TULSA, Okla. –– For the third consecutive year, the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund set a new high mark, with over $2.7 million raised from more than 2,000 donors, TU athletics announced.
Tulsa surpassed last year’s total of $2.6 million, while the Champions Fund added more than 200 new members. The exciting news comes on the heels of a transformative $30 million anonymous gift for student-athlete scholarships, and an $8 million gift from the estate of Tom and Betty Johnston geared toward athletic facilities announced earlier this summer.
As The University of Tulsa athletics’ primary fundraising arm, the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund strives to provide every Golden Hurricane student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience.
“In my brief time in this position, I have seen firsthand the love, dedication and enthusiasm Tulsa fans have for the athletic program through their support of the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund,” said TU Vice President and Director of Athletics Justin Moore. “On behalf of our student-athletes and coaches, I sincerely thank all those who have participated in the Champions Fund and helped us set another yearly record.”
Additionally, TU raised more than $2 million to fully fund The Case Fund for the 2024-25 athletic year. This spring, TU student-athletes hit a 3.34 semester GPA, the highest in school history.
The Case Fund awards are available to student-athletes and allows The University of Tulsa to reward student-athletes for academic achievement up to $8,000 annually. As the college landscape continues to evolve, this opportunity will ensure Tulsa athletics can continue to recruit and retain the very best student-athletes and provide them with a world-class experience.
